So What Do I Know About Affiliate Marketing?
My name is Beau Evan and I've been in the digital marketing realm for quite some time now. 6 years to be exact, as I'm typing this on 12/20/2021.
I've created hundreds of websites, ranked them, sold them and most importantly BANKED while doing so.
So when I first heard about the Wealthy Affiliate, I was taken back to be honest; so I thought, why not do a Wealthy Affiliate Course Review to show the internet what these guys are all about. So buckle up and get ready for this unbiased course review of their program.
And finally, no I do not get paid by them for this what so ever.

What is Wealthy Affiliate?
The Wealthy Affiliate is actually, the world's most popular (and some would say controversial) affiliate marketing course out there.
In 2021-2022 it has a thriving community and seemingly enough a crazy ad campaign to keep new faces coming and going. As I write this this community has over 1.4 million members in it. Yes, you read that right. 1.4 Million people are in this course. Some interesting things about this community in 2021-2022 are:
|
Why I Don't Recommend Wealthy Affiliate For A Lot Of People
I've watched the videos, I've browsed the community, I did research on the owners of the course, checked out the tools they use in WA and I came to this conclusion:
Wealthy Affiliate has value for novice's and beginners. It will teach the fundamentals of affiliate marketing and has some decent tools but...
I honestly cannot recommend this course for anyone who is SERIOUS about being a successful affiliate marketer in 2021-2022.
I mean, it has some value but realistically not enough to justify pulling the trigger on this course.

Wealthy Affiliate Pros & Cons
If we cut through the BS and the hogwash that's out there the long story short is: It does not live up to the claims it makes. It oversells itself by a long shot AND well... let's get into this below.
The Pros of Wealthy Affiliate:
The Pros of Wealthy Affiliate:
- It gives a basic roadmap of affiliate marketing
- Overviews basic keyword research tools
- Your web hosting is actually included
- The community is an open book
- The training is from 2013
- It's training does not reflect Google's new algorithm updates
- The creators don't even really do affiliate marketing anymore
- The training is mostly text based (so if you like learning without videos good luck lol)
- The dashboard is clunky and confusing to most people (also, lots of spam offers come through here so buckle up)
- The claims are really out there (and by out there I mean REALLLY out there)
How Much Does Wealthy Affiliate Cost?
The Wealthy Affiliate Costs either $0-$50 per month or up to $359 per year if you decide to pull the trigger on the annual payment. Yes, it's not a lot of money considering most courses are thousands of dollars per year but you'll see why your time investment learning from these guys isn't worth it.
There is a free plan but again, your time is what you're losing out on here.
The Free Plan Includes:
They use the web builder SiteRubix. If you haven't heard of it well.. neither have I haha. So there probably isn't a ton of value here.
One of the creators Kyle actually admits this, check this screenshot:

If the creator says you're dead in the water if you don't move to your own domain then seriously, what value is there in the free S#$!? I mean, if you're doing this willy-nilly as a hobby yeah this could be fun.
Maybe even for a high school project or something but as an adult who needs to capitalize on their time and ROI, don't bother with the free junk. Here's a screenshot from one of their threads on the WA community: -------------------------->> |
Is Wealthy Affiliate Legit? Is Wealthy Affiliate A Scam?
No, Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam.. While there isn't too much to like about them I wouldn't call it a scam. Is there a lot of value here? No, lol.
Honestly, any program that costs a couple hundred dollars a year probably isn't going to have a ton of value in it.
A scam however, is just something or someone that takes your bag and runs off. This isn't that but again, not a lot of value here.

So How Much Money Can Be Earned From Wealthy Affiliate?
In short, The Wealthy Affiliate claims to give all the tools you'll need as well as coaching to start earning $$ from the program.
As we discussed earlier, you will not make any money with their free plan so get ready to sign up for the monthly payments or pay the annual dues.

How Much Money Can You Make With Their Affiliate Program?
Who's ready for a good laugh? You know me I ALWAYS am and this literally made me LOL.
Wealthy Affiliate Affiliate sales will net you a whopping $121 per user you refer to them and that's for the lifetime of the sale. Aka no matter how long that person stays in WA program- you'll only make $121 per year. Wooo!!! LMFAO |
Who Owns Wealthy Affiliate
Kyle LoudonKyle Loudon is a co-founder and one of the main faces of Wealthy Affiliate. He'll be the face you see most in the training sessions in the program. He's an affiliate marketing pro.
|
Carson LimCarson Lim is a designer and co-founder of Wealthy Affiliate. AKA Kyle's right hand man. He's been quoted by Kyle as "making many of the idea's in the program come to life."
|
Jay NeilSo Jay Neil is the executive training officer of Wealthy Affiliate and a well known affiliate marketer.
|
Is Wealthy Affiliate an MLM? Is it a Pyramid Scheme?
Not really. Wealthy Affiliate is not an MLM and it's not a pyramid scheme.. Not really like I said lol.
A pyramid scheme is one where new recruits pay upfront costs to members at the top of the pyramid under the promise of receiving payments when they recruit new members.
You've heard it before and if you're reading this you've probably been in one.
I remember I did this Visalus protein powder BS and was like, "yeah this is definetly a pyramid scheme."
Did I make any money off it? Not at all. Luckily for me I got the person above me to pay for my dues as I made a bet with him claiming it was a pyramid scheme and he didn't think it was. Score! I guess haha.

Wealthy Affiliate Makes A TON Of Claims.
But Does It Walk The Walk?
1. You Won't Fail
2. It Takes 30 Seconds To Build A Website
3. Top Affiliate Marketing Platform Of The Year
4. Wealthy Affiliate Members Own Google Rankings
Wealthy Affiliate Is Outdated AFIt's 2012. The course just dropped and man o man it's time to capitalize on this.
Well now it's 2022 and guess what?! The content is STILL the same. Yeah you heard me. The same content that was being used in 2012 is still being used in 2022. They even have Google+ training videos still in the course which is crazy because Google stopped using Google+ back in 2019. Here we are 3 years later and I can't do anything but laugh at this. Check out some of the queries that the students have posted in the WA program: |
Some Pretty Bad SEO Advice (no really, it's bad)
SMH. These guys (again the training is from 2012), claim that you don't need backlinks to get traffic to your website. Uhh. What?
It's 2022 and we all know that Backlinks are by far the most important thing you need to get a website ranked.
Well, that and engaging content like the stuff you're reading now hehe. And honestly, If you're reading this you should know I've done a damn good job at backlinking and writing content on the Wealthy Affiliate Course Review (see what I did there, an on-page backlink) to even get you here vs. the 100's of other people who have done a review on this course.

I Honestly Don't Believe These Guys Are Doing Affiliate Marketing Anymore
My gut feeling is that Kyle and Carson are way too busy living their best life now then actually working at this.
Think about it: If you had 1.4 million members in your group and you were at the top of the food chain would you be working? Probably not.
I know I wouldn't. My stopping point will be at a couple hundred thousand per month (residual of course) and then I'm out.
Sure, I'll work at it to keep things going but honestly I've been making $$ residually for years now and it's the best way to live life.
Making your $$ work for you.

What About Jay Neil?
So Jay is the "training chief" and his main website is affiliateresources.org
In a 5 minute snapshot, I looked at his site and almost barfed.
He recommends doing some MLM stuff as a decent venture but says try at your own risk.
Um, no thank you lol.

Claim That You Can Make $1 Million Dollars Per Year
This part isn't cool either.
Honestly, I had to give this it's own section because it's just bogus.

Wealthy Affiliate Training:
What Are You Actually Going To Learn?
So all in all, in the chaos of this program you'll find that Wealthy Affiliate actually offers training on how to do affiliate marketing. Is it good training, mmmm no.
Would I ever invest the money that it costs to be apart of the program?
Maybe, that is if I had zero experience in affiliate marketing and I wanted to scratch the surface.
But all in all, my time and your time is worth so much more than what this program has to offer so I would say a hard no.
So what's the Verdict: The verdict here is exactly what I said above. A hard pass on wealthy affiliate.
There are so many other programs out there that I've joined that have way more value and will help you scale your passive income to realistic and attainable levels that this course just doesn't do it for me.
